LAYHER SYSTEMS HELP TO BRING THE ROYAL WEDDING SPECTACLE TO THE WORLD

When security was at the top of the agenda, Layher was at the top of the list. Layher’s inventive Allround Scaffold was used in the construction of a weather-resilient bridge system and temporary construction used by 2,000+ world representatives.

Security is a major issue at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) – this is proved by the up to 5,000 members of the Swiss army in the Swiss climatic spa Davos, the highest-located city in Europe. This year, organizers expect more than 2,000 high-profile representatives from the economy, politics, society and art, who during the five-day event discuss globa Millions of viewers worldwide will see the Royal Wedding in London in April 2011. Many may not realize that Layher Ltd. in the UK has helped to deliver the massive media requirements associated with the event. The company’s equipment has been chosen by Media Structures, who was appointed to provide television viewing, studio and support facilities for the world’s media at key locations along the route.

Media Structure’s design team, along with the use of the Layher scaffolding, offered key benefits during construction. The project created a dedicated media village in Green Park opposite Buckingham Palace. Here, a threestorey structure was been built using 158 tonnes of Layher Allround® scaffolding to provide up to 200 broadcast camera viewing points within 22 individual studios. The layout, an estimated 70 metres in height following a radius footprint, utilized Layher’s versatile rosette coupler design, which has allows full-access to each level via a series of Layher Stairtowers.
