LAYHER COMMENCES OPERATIONS AT NEW PRODUCTION FACILITY

GUEGLINGEN-EIBENSBACH, GERMANY.

Layher officially commenced operation on its newest production plant, “Plant 3,” – a highly automated and energy-efficient production center for Allround Scaffolding. The new plant will ensure delivery readiness and product quality for customers, crucial factors in scaffolding construction.

An increased demand for Allround systems from Eibensbach drove the decision to build the new plant years ago. Construction began in autumn of 2021 after a lengthy approval process, with production starting recently as planned. “Layher is a dependable partner pursuing a long-term and consistent investment policy – with the aim of increasing production capacities and ensuring Layher’s high quality standards by means of highly automated and continuously controlled production”, explains Managing Director Wolf Christian Behrbohm.

The Latest Technology with Energy Efficiency

The new plant spans roughly 27 acres and is a self-contained center for producing and hot-dip galvanizing Allround Scaffolding components, the leading system solution for large-scale engineering used in construction, industry, and event technology. The plant was constructed using state-of-the-art techniques typical of the Layher brand: this includes optimum production flow, the latest in automation and storage techniques with a high degree of digitalization, and energy-efficient operation. The plant’s production halls and buildings also feature comprehensive measures for building insulation, a photovoltaic system, and the ability to recover wasted heat from production processes in conformity with the high energy efficiency standard BEG 40.

A Focus on Sustainable Operation

A variety of measures, such as the complete enclosure of the pretreatment area in the hot-dip galvanizing facility and encapsulated sections of the facility with efficient filtering and reprocessing equipment, also ensure that emissions fall well below statutory limit values, providing protection from air emissions, wastewater, and noise. To mitigate environmental effects, owner families Langer and Layher have begun implementing environmental measures with visible results for local residents that can be achieved quickly. Measures include the humane relocation of several animal species into substitute habitats, the greening of facades and roofs, and renaturalization of over 247 acres of the river Zaber with alluvial woods and meadows, rerouting the river bed to create different water flow speeds and appropriately shaped river banks. The aim is to create beneficial aquatic, amphibious, and terrestrial habitats.

Strengthening German Operations

The decision to expand production in the Zabergäu district was made with great deliberation and a clear commitment to the region. The company benefits from short distances between development, production, and logistics in addition to qualified, experienced, and motivated employees that enable a quicker reaction to demand. As a family-owned company with strong bonds to the region, Layher is committed to safeguarding jobs at the location and strengthening secondary and tertiary sectors. Layher’s “Plant 3” will employ 380 people in the final expansion stage.
