We are currently seeking for a qualified candidate for a regional sales position located in and responsible for the New England Area. Work would be out of home office and through direct visits at customers and prospects. Main customers are rental and construction companies and especially industrial service providers. The position requires excellent sales skills and good mechanical – structural understanding.

Broad Scope of position:

Drive Sales as representative of an established Region. Open additional Branch in the Boston Area in the near future . Once branch is established, provide overall general management of all functions especially sales and technical services for Layher Inc. in the assigned region.

Key duties and responsibilities:


  • Key projects: identify key clients and projects and prioritize sales activity accordingly
  • Sales reporting: plan and report sales activity regularly
  • Customer relationships: ensure close co-operation with customers’ sales and finance personnel
  • Customer support: ensure, with the assistance of the Technical Team, that after-sales support and advice on application of Layher equipment to solve installation problems is provided to customers
  • Customer funding: advise customers on purchase and finance options and manage related commercial risk
  • Competition: Monitor and report on copy and competition scaffolding systems in the New England market and maintain a database on copy and competition systems


  • Arrangements: Communicate with other Sales Manager about availability of material until own yard is established
  • Ordering: Order stock for Layher Inc. and ensure stock levels are maintained at a level appropriate to expected future sales
  • Stock management: manage stock including stock movements, transport, invoicing, and orders


  • Secure basic: operational functions as purchasing and invoicing
  • Ensuring: fulfilment of legal requirements
  • Budget: manage your budget based on given parameters
  • Commercial risk: with the assistance of the Finance Manager, monitor, report and proactively manage credit and other commercial risks to Layher Inc.
Key objectives of the position:
  • Ascertain prospective and actual market for Layher products in the New England area, especially for large commercial projects
  • Establish a regular contact regime with clients and prospective clients
  • Contribute strongly to the development of the market for Layher products in the Massachusetts area
  • Identify and evaluate competition within the market with the objective of ensuring Layher’s continued technological leadership
Performance measures:


  • Growth in sales revenue generally, with special regard to commercial projects
  • Growth in number of active clients, especially in commercial markets
  • Excellent customer relationships, especially with large key clients, with minimal customer complaints
  • Timely and accurate planning and reporting on sales activity
  • Up to date information on copy and competition systems, and proactive action against copiers


  • Timely and accurate records of stock movements and invoicing
  • Minimal stock write-offs and slow-moving stock
  • Maintenance of stock levels appropriate to anticipated sale
Key challenge facing this role:
  • Contribution to a company within a competitive section of the market
Work location and pay:
  • New England based (preferable Boston Area)
  • Travel throughout the North East within territory
  • Pay will be a significant base (subject to experience and skills)
